Rosemarie DeWitt took birth in Queens, New York. She started participating in school plays, realizing her love for acting. She joined New College of Hostra University and earned a degree in Creative Studies. She later got training at the Actors Center in New York and made her acting debut with local theatre.

Rosemarie Dewitt is very well known name in off Broadway theatre circuit and has appeared in several plays such as ‘Danny and the Deep Blue Sea’ at Second Stage, ‘The Butter and Eggman’ at the Atlantic Theater, and possibly most notably Craig Lucas’ ‘Small Tragedy’. Dewitt and the rest of the cast won an Obie Award for their brilliant work in ‘Small Tragedy’.

It was 2001 when she decided to move away from stage acting to screen acting and very soon she earned a role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Her other notable performances are on ‘Sex and the City’, ‘Rescue Me’, ‘Shut Up And Sing’, ‘Love Monkey’, ‘Doris’, ‘Purple Violets’ and ‘Off the Black’. During 2006, DeWitt got the role of Emily Lehman in Fox’s new hit, Standoff. In 2007, she joined ‘Mad Men’ as Midge Daniels.

As she is the granddaughter of legendary fighter Jimmy Braddock so she showed a keen interest to be a part of Ron Howard’s feature ‘Cinderella Man’. Howard offered her the role of Sara Wilson after the lady left Howard stunned with her talent. And, as per her opinion, her role on ‘Cinderella Man’ is one of the best roles of her acting career.
