Rich Sommer, an American actor, grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota. He joined Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, majoring in theater and sang in the world renowned Concordia Choir. Rich also studied improv work at the Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis and started an improv group, the Slush Puppies, in Moorhead. He next joined Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and received his MFA in acting. He is best known for his role on the 2006 film, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, portraying Anne Hathaway’s friend Doug. He has also appeared in commercials for innumerous companies such as Nextel, Sprint and Bud Light etc.
In 2007, Rich Sommer was seen in an episode of ‘Law & Order’. On ‘Mad Men‘, he appeared as a regular supporting role as Harry Crane, a media buyer who becomes head of the television department in a 1960s Madison Avenue ad agency. He was also seen in ImprovEverywhere’s viral video “Frozen Grand Central”.
In 2008, Rich Sommer appeared as a guest star on the television series ‘The Office’.
Currently, he resides in Los Angeles with his wife Virginia and their daughter Beatrice. Among his other acting credits are ‘Death 4 Told’, and ‘Pose Down’.
